Yocco't Hot Dog Clone This is my clone for Yocco's hot dogs, as described at: www.associatedcontent.com/article/82360/yoccos_the_hot_dog_king_in_allentown.htmlMy Recipe Clone 4 Hot Dogs 4 Hot Dog Buns 1 Medium Yellow Onion, Chopped Gulden's Spicy Brown Mustard a few dashes of paprika a few dashes of cayenne/red Pepper a few dashes of chili powder tablespoon of Oil a few pats of butter or margarine In a small sauté pan heat a tablespoon of oil and add the onions, cooking over medium heat. Cook the onions until they are thoroughly cooked, but don't let them brown. Drain the onions. Place the onions in a small bowl and add as much mustard as you want. Coat the hot dogs with a little paprika, cayenne pepper & a pinch of chili powder to create a spicy crust when grilled. Heat a little bit of water (a few tablespoons) in the pan and add the hot dogs, cooking over medium heat until done. Let it steam a little in the water vapor. Although I didn't see this done at Yocco's, we do this at our house. On a pan/grill, take the buns and toast them on both sides until lightly toasted. You can brush a little butter or margarine on the inside of the bun for added flavor if you wish. After toasting the buns, add the dogs & coat with mustard and onion sauce. Add the dogs and serve any leftover sauce on the side. Makes 4 servings.
